About Rakuten

Passion, professionalism, team spirit: What makes Barcelona FC unique in the world of football applies to Rakuten in the world of work. We are a global company with two state-of-the-art locations in Germany: Bamberg and Berlin. People from over 30 nations work in an agile, future-oriented environment. We lead together by common values and goals, while maintaining space and respect for eachother. And all this in a company that has optimism in its very name. Rakuten means optimism in Japanese!

Corporate philosophy

The quickest way to reach your destination is if you know the way. Our path is called #walktogether. And our goal is a better future. We want to empower people, companies and society to achieve this.  And we want to achieve this in full awareness of our corporate responsibility for social justice, engagement and a fair, friendly working environment. Our solid foundations come from the principles of our Shugi: We strive to be better. We are as passionate as we are professional and we try new things so we can learn from our experiences (shikumika in Japanese). We focus on our customers' satisfaction and how to maximise it. We are quick and agile. We are always a step ahead.

More than just an employer

The Japanese concept of omotenashi is often translated as "hospitality", but it means so much more: It is about relationships characterised by deep mutual respect. This is exactly what you can expect as part of the Rakuten team. We stand for empowerment, discovering potential and promoting our employees. Our hierarchies are flat, and communication is direct and open. Together with you, we will set your goals and discuss them in regular feedback sessions. You can contribute your ideas. Then implement them and develop yourself further with each experience.

It goes without saying that we will support your personal development with further training opportunities. Would you like to gain experience or pursue a career beyond Germany's borders? Then you can benefit from our exchange programmes with Rakuten business units all over the world, participate in international projects or advance your career within the group across national borders.

As part of our workforce, you can expect the following benefits:

-          Flexible working/working from home in many departments

-          Sharing in Rakuten's growth through stock options

-          More free time thanks to both locations – enjoying both Berlin and Bavarian public holidays ...

-          ... and more holidays the longer you work for us.

-          Free German language courses and specialised training opportunities

-          Allowances for food, transport and healthcare (depending on location)
